F ashion Weeks (or some people refers to it as Fashions Month) is officially over. We have seen it all both good and bad on the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Gucci are among the hit collections of the season. The most controversial has got to be Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, thanks to the open letter he wrote to Cathy Horyn of The New York Times calling her “a schoolyard bully with thick and perfectly predictable agenda”. But we are not going to talk about that. Instead of doing that, we would like to have a recap on all the bizzarre fashion or pieces from the collections that we saw at the Fashion Months for Spring 2013. Karl’s hula-hoop beach bag at Chanel? It is on the list. So here it goes:
1. Tom Ford’s knee-high gladiator sandals.
They look other-worldly or perhaps from a different era. They instantly reminded us of the movie Leatherface for whatever reason that is. The entire collection is impeccably made but the knee-high gladiator sandals somehow over-shadow all the pretty dresses and separates.
2. Celine’s furry heels
We have seen mohair and astrakhan shoes but nothing compares to Celine’s whimsical high-heels for Spring 2013. They are a little bit too much and do not really fit in with the collection and Celine’s brand of minimalist chic.
3. Pieces from Jeremy Scott
His collaboration with Adidas is such a big hit but when it comes to his own collection Scott tends to go a little too crazy for comfort. We can’t decide which one is more bizzarre: model covered in shimmery animal print fabric or male model in a meat-print overall.
4. Prada’s toe-sock shoes
We are not even sure whether they are socks or part of the shoes or seperates that are supposed to be worn together. This made us think of Margiella toe-boots. It may take a little bit of time for us to learn to be okay with this.
5. Chanel’s hula-hoop beach bag
It was very heavily discussed that Karl had to come forward to talk about the bag. He explained about how the hoop will be useful to hang wet towel at the beach. Hmm… The bag looks very heavy, tho…
Now would you be caught wearing one of these items from Spring 2013 runways? Well time will tell because who knows, you might be walking around in leather toe-socks around your neighborhood next year.
