A re you the kind of girl who wears the same black liner everyday? Bored to tears with the same eyeshadow colour you find yourself reaching for all the time? If your answer is “Yes” to both, then I have to ask you another question: Why?? Really, why do you do those things in the first place, when the (makeup) world is your oyster?
There are so many types of eye makeup products out there you can play around with to create different looks. There are seven days in a week – that’s seven different eye makeup looks per week! So why be timid and limit yourself? Let these beauties show you how to spice up your daily makeup!
Monday: Bright Lights
Everyone dreads the Monday blues. What better to counteract them than colourful makeup to lift your moods up? Get bright on your lids and spirit with eye-catching rainbow hues!
Tuesday: Clean and Neutral
After a day of getting compliments on how fantastic your fun shadow colour was, maybe it’s time to tone it down – but not too much, oh no. Neutral does not and should not mean boring! Play around with neutral shades to create an attention-grabbing look.
Wednesday: Sultry Smokey
Who says you can’t do smokey during the day? Just keep it simple and sweet! Nothing too dark and nothing too harsh and you’re good to go. The best thing about this eye look is it takes you from day to night without any hassle. Just a little bit of a touch up after work and you’re looking peachy and perfect again.
Duchess of Cambridge aka Kate Middleton remains elegant and appropriate by smudging a dark blue shade around her eyes
Thursday: Throwback to the Retro Years
The ladies from the 70’s really knew how to party, and their makeup showed it! With bold, winged-out liner or eyeshadow, we too can steal some of the retro vibe from those years.
Friday: Sexy Metallic
Metallic colours are a great way to kick it up a notch! Pick any hue that has a that metallic sheen and pack it around the eyes. Metallic metals such as silver, bronze and gold are the best as they suit pretty much every skin tone. A brightly coloured metallic eyeshadow is good on its own too (as Ginnifer Goodwin proved above with her metallic lime green shadow) but if you worry about standing out a little too much, mix metallic brights with matte neutrals to tone down a bright metal colour, especially at the outer corner of your eyes.
Saturday: Gems and Jewel Tone
Gems and stones are really nature’s gifts to us women. But nobody says you should actually own them; have you seen the price of a half carat sapphire lately?? Visit a jewellery store simply to get inspired by their beautiful rich colours. Then, head over to the nearest beauty store and snap up eyeshadows in similar sumptuous shades for your eyes!
Sunday: Convert Crayon Hues to Liners
Remember using those colourful selections in your crayon box when you were a wee little person in art class? Of course you do! And be honest, you too arranged and re-arranged those colours from whites and yellows to greys and blacks from end to end. Well, it’s never too late to play around with the bright colours! But instead of crayons, imagine a vanity box full of eyeliners in all those delightful shades. Insert the colours subtly into your looks by using them for a casual Sunday. A small tip: you can create the same liner effect with eyeshadows; just use a thin angled brush to apply.
Mix them up as you wish. Just remember, have fun and stay young!
