W henever we make a mistake, what is the first thing that we tend to do? Run away and pretend it didn’t happen? Point fingers at someone else and say it wasn’t me? Or do we shy away from responsibility altogether simply to avoid having to be put in situations like these?

Whether it is at work or our daily lives, making mistakes is part of it and everyone has to go through it. You can’t run away from it,  and you can’t hide in the background hoping someone else will take the blame. At some point, everyone has to be responsible for something and when you make a mistake, the mature thing to do is own up to it and deal with it like an adult.

Here’s how you can deal when you happen to make mistakes:

  • Accept Responsibility: If you made a mistake, stand up, be responsible and say “Yes, I did it’. Then apologize and say you regret the error and that it won’t happen again. Accept responsibility for your successes as well as mistakes.

  • Find A Solution: Instead of throwing your hands up and trying to run away from the problem, stay calm, focus and find a solution. Show others that not only do you accept responsibility for your mistakes, but you make an effort to correct it as well.

  • Take Note Of What Went Wrong: Take note of what went wrong with the situation you had to deal with. Learn from your mistakes, and you’ll be able to learn how not to repeat it again next time around.

  • Let It Go: What’s done is done, and there is no point replaying it over and over in your head, or let the fear of making another mistake hold you back in the future. Learn from it and it will help build your character and make
