T his review should read as a confession of a liquid liner virgin. My exciting first foray into the world of Amy Winehouse/Kate Moss of thick lined eyes and liquid eyeliners. I have always found it a little intimidating to use liquid liners what with uneven lines and messy smudges so I have never invested in one. But when an opportunity like a free liner lands on one’s pile (literally), I suppose in all sensibility , one should at least give it a shot. This particular liner is meant to help define eyes with finely lined eyes, it is 0.05mm at the finest tip.
I must say that for a novice like me, I find it remarkably easy to manouver the Maybelline Ultra Fine Liquid Liner. Line dran is fine and does not smudge easily. In fact, it is good for an 8 hour run and a combat class without turning one into a panda. But that same ultra fine brush also makes it more difficult to draw a well slanted Amy Winehouse lined eyes. Maybe it is just me, just too impatient. It takes a lot more filling time for that look. But for those who just uses it to elongate the shape of the eyes and using it for better definition, this eye liner is quite perfect in my humble opinion. In fact it is so fine and easy to use, fashion editors have been invited to draw intricate patterns using the liner at the press launch.
At the price of RM29.90, I think it is a worthwhile investment and should be in every girls make up case for quick evening pick me up looks, just make sure that you fill out the colour properly. Nothing is worse than a badly drawn liquid liner cause it gives a very angry look when done wrongly, like drawing too far from lashes. But drawn well, even a simple line gives that slant and length to eyes that is very sexy, indeed. Since the eyes are windows to the soul, last thing you need for dreamy looking deep into each others’ eyes is for the other party to focus on anything on romantic promises rather than badly drawn eyes.
