When it comes to talent, we love spotlighting the new, the fresh, the YOUNG. That’s why we were at Raffles College’s Rewind Fashion Show in Seductive Club, KL! 6 new designers showcased their collections in an encore performance after their debut showcase at Raffles College of Higher Education’s 25 Graduation Show.
ManChien’s collection featured organic silhouettes with theatric flair and outlandish headgear; Vivienne Khong’s collection was inspired by Japanese artist Kumi Yamashita’s shadow art and Brad Paik incorporated geometric shapes into his Untouchable Agony collection. William Tan used leather, flannel and pony hair for his collection titled Insenatious (pony hair miniskirt, anyone?), while Alan Ooi’s Gender Bender used a palette of black and white. Chinta Indra’s collection was all in white and featured glow in the dark codec on the fabric.
Frankly, we were wowed by the creativity of the designers ( and at some points, taken aback by some of the out-of-this-world designs)! Their collections range from the wearable to the outrageous, and considering their tender years, we think it’s safe to say that we can expect the next crop of notable Malaysian designers to spring from this fertile ground.
