A side from a set of clean teeth and bright smile, our nails are among first things that people noticed about us. Clean hands and nails give impression to others that you are hygienic and you are taking care of yourself well.Would you take someone with dry cuticles and chipped nails seriously even if they have a thousand dollar shoes on? Although we live by the principle of “don’t judge a book by its cover”, if you can’t take care of your nails it just shows how you incapable you are of of taking care of everything else.
But with our hectic schedules and crazy deadlines, how do we keep up with our nail growth and what do we do in between our manicure and pedicure appointment?
Here are a few tips on how to take care of your nails.
• If you are wearing nail polish and have them at home in different colors, put them in freezer to keep them smooth
• Apply petroleum jelly to fix your dry and brittle nails. Always carry a small tub with you for your convenience
• Always file nails beginning on the sides and brushing towards the center, using light strokes in the same direction. Nails could get weaker if you file them back and forth.
• Cut nails straight-sided with slightly rounded tips to make fingers look longer and more slender
• Wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying another to prevent air bubbles
• Apply olive oil on nails to get glossy and gleaming shine
• Filling in the corners prevents the nails from being strong; hence never file the nails deep in the corner
• Rub the fingernails from one hand across the other. Do this at least five times daily as this helps in enhancing the nail growth
• A hand massage will boost your circulation and encourage nail growth
• Repair splits or tear with nail glue or clear polish
With these tips there is just no excuse to let your nails look like they belong to someone who works at the mines.
