O ne of those comedies that you thought might have been a little more entertaining or a lot funnier, but it just ends up falling flat. Big Momma’s Like Father Like Son is not extremely bad, but it’s not all that great either.

Martin Lawrence is back as FBI Agent Malcolm Turner/Big Momma, and this time he is bringing his stepson Trent (Brendan T. Jackson) with him. Big Momma and Trent decide to go undercover in an all girl’s art school after Trent witnesses and murder. Together they dig for dirt that could put their suspect away for a long time before they can get their hands on Trent.

The storyline was sadly bland, ordinary and extremely predictable. The first Big Momma movie was actually not too bad, but this one is just downright ridiculous at some bits. The pace of the entire movie was rather monotonous too. There was nothing that really kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next.

The movie seems like it was just made for the sake of making it, and the storyline was so shallow it’s amazing that they managed to drag the movie for as long as they did. Even I don’t really know what to write about this movie because it lacks enough substance worthy of a proper review. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

The movie falls under the comedy genre, but really there wasn’t much genuine comedy to it. To give it a little bit of credit, there were one of two scenes that genuinely made audiences laugh – just a little. Unless you’re into the senseless, slapstick comedy then you’ll probably find yourself chuckling more.

The Big Momma movies should have just quit while they’re ahead, because to be honest, this one was a lithe disappointing. Definitely not as good as the previous movies, Martin Lawrence could do better than this.

Movie Rating: 2 Stars
