If there was ever time where we put on excess weight, it is always at the end and the beginning of the year. With Christmas, New Year’s and now the Chinese New Year festival coming up, admit it, you have been feeling guilty about all that over eating haven’t you?
Somehow all the festivities and the spirit of the holiday season makes us overeat for some reason. Don’t ask me why, it just does. But fret not, there is always a way to lose those unwanted pounds and get you back into that pre-holiday weight you once were (and make your clothes a little less tight) and we’ve got the 5 tips that you should stick to if you want to make it happen:
- Exercise, Exercise and More Exercise!: There’s no way around it, you need to exercise! You can try to avoid it all you want, but you need to face up to the truth in the end that there is no better solution to weight loss than lots of huffing, puffing, sweating and hard work. If you want to lose weight, you need to start working out at least 3 times a day. If you find it difficult to stick to it, get a friend to go along with you. It always helps to have someone to keep you company.
- Ditch Those Quick Weight Loss Products: You’re doing nothing but spending unnecessary money and ruining your body with all these lose weight quick products. Trust me, no matter how many products you try, it never works. Sure you may see some quick results and be happy with it, but the minute you stop taking the products your weight is going to come back , and come back double what it was! The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to exercise, whether you like it or not. And don’t moan and groan because it’s really not as bad as you think. There’s lots of fun exercise activities you can do like swimming, badminton, tennis, cycling, going for a walk or run, anything that gets you working up a sweat, it will do.
- Stop the Soft Drinks: Stop right there and step away from the soft drinks! Soft drinks will never bring you any benefit except to add on unnecessary calories that you definitely don’t need. This is the secret weight gainer that many of us don’t even realize because we think, hey, a drink can’t do any harm right? Wrong! By choosing to go for soft drinks instead, you’re subjecting your body to weight gain without even realizing it. Opt for water instead. It’s a lot healthier, cheaper (free if you bring your own bottle from home), it has zero calories so you don’t gain any weight and you’ll save yourself from gaining unnecessary weight without even realizing it.
- Stop Snacking Unless You’re Keeping It Healthy: Stop snacking on chips. Stop snacking on candies. Stop snacking on fries, junk food and anything else that you basically know you shouldn’t be eating because you’ll get fat. Why do that to yourself? If you honestly do feel hungry before your mealtime, choose healthier snacks instead, like an apple, almonds, or yoghurt. If you want to get serious about losing weight, you need to not only train your body to start eating healthy, but you need to train you mind to get focus and remember why you’re opting for those healthier snacks instead.
- Go Green…and Fruity: It may not taste as good as fast food or the fried stuff, but in the battle for weight loss, fruits and vegetables are going to be your best friends. Along with exercise, fruits and vegetables are the best thing you can do to help your body shed those extra calories you gained during the holidays. Eat less of your main meal and fill up on fruits and veggies instead.
