F or many of us Asian girls, mascaras are a lifesaver. We need some really good stuff to volumize our little lashes! Maybelline’s Magnum Super Film Volume Express is supposed to do just that. A self-proclaimed champion against sparse, skimpy lashes, this new product contains a breakthrough collagen formula which is supposed to thicken the lashes yet prevent clumping.
The packaging, similar to previous magnum mascaras, is a thick tube in an eye-catching shade of yellow with bright red lettering. Some may find the size of the tube inconvenient but I had no problems with it whatsoever. The brush is twice as large as a regular mascara brush with a slight curve. I love the brush! It coats all my lashes with just one swipe while lifting and separating them at the same time!
As for the product, let’s go through Maybelline’s promises and see how the mascara fared up!
1. Super volume
The mascara definitely volumizes amazingly well! My lashes looked 3 times thicker and darker! As this is the main function of maybelline’s magnum mascaras, I’d say this one did pretty well!
2. 24 hours smudge proof
Sadly, this wasn’t the longest lasting mascara. I noticed a slight fall out under my lower lash line after approximately 3 hours of wear. The mascara also didn’t have the best hold. While the lashes stayed dark and thick, they didn’t stay curled upwards for very long and started to droop after 4 hours.
3. Gentle on the eyes and lashes and easy warm water removal
Now on this note I agree that Maybelline fulfilled their promises. This mascara was so comfortable on the lashes! Despite the volume, my lashes were still soft and bendable. The fall-outs didn’t irritate my eyes at all! I’ve also never had a mascara that was so easy to remove, it came right off with some warm water and none of my lashes fell off!
All in all, a great volumizing mascara that makes your lashes look stunning and is so gentle on the eyes and the lashes. Improvements could be made on the hold but perhaps that’s just me, they may have a different effect on other kinds of lashes! I would suggest layering a waterproof mascara over it just to keep it in place so that you get both volume and curl lasting all day long!
