Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year from all of us at emmagem.com!!

What happens on a lazy Saturday, you are hanging out with your girlfriend and you feel kinda of peckish… and your coffee at Starbucks idea doesn’t seem so appealing after all. Well you gotta have a Plan B… Plan B is the latest cafe by the Miss Read group who started and later sold, the chain of Delicious restaurants concept.

This new one is a sort of “replacement” for D’lish, a cafe, fast food style sandwich and salad place that did not fare so well with some customers but which I and a few salad and sandwich loving friends adore. Their surviving D’lish cafe which used to be tucked away in side Cold Storage at Bangsar Village One, has been given a new leased of life under Plan B (located across Starbucks cafe BV1). Rustic, recycled feel with menus printed on old looking paper and just strapped together with a rubber band and giant paper clip, it is cool. Some key elements like their counter with loads of pastries and puffs line the counter, the sweets and desserts are place in a chiller that is also part of the window decor. It is comfortable, and serves some mighty wholesome food, just as Malaysians like it…

Some things on the menu…

Soft Shell Crab on Watercress Salad- delicious, mouthwatering spicy tasty crab on watercress with saffron or curry powder dressing. A little salty but was delicious. By the end of the meal and some conversations later, we had consumed between us 3 bottles of water, I wonder if it is the putting true the rumours that the chefs at Delicious and miss Read too it seems is just a little bit heavy handed with the MSG…. I am not sure about that.

Next, we shared a ham and cheese toasties. Served with small bowl of salad very D’lish concept and the clincher, yam and sweet potato crisps freshly fried, man, this is taking the Malaysian in me to near heaven. Don’t ask me why, I am a sucker for our “kerepek ” culture. Oh the toasties was served on toasted wholemeal bread with oozing cheese and ham. Yeah, a full dose of carbo injection, can  anything else be more comforting.

Dessert was mouth watering melt in your mouth Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese topping and the red velvet cake was  layered with soft mushy chocolate, it practically melts in your mouth. It is apparently one of their best sellers.

The damage RM46.00. whilst not exactly cheap, was a very “satisfying” price for the comfort on a late saturday afternoon…
