F ashion designers have been designing and focusing on different groups of women. Different groups as in edgier, fearless and more out-there bunch of women. With that in mind, designer Ashburn Eng has collaborated with Singaporean label max.tan to come out with “young&restless”, a clothing line for the free-spirited, confident and unpretentious women of today.
“young&restless” recently unveiled their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Staying true to its design aesthetic and the promise of bold, sophisticated clothing for today’s modern age women, the collection is all about garments in conventional shades of blue, black and white but cut to precision into sexy body-con, shirt dresses and fitted pants.
Clearly tells the story of lost innocence, the collection combined what’s left from the good-girl’s past with the tragic ending of despair. With the modestly high necklines and long sleeves dominating the looks, they symbolize the purity and past dependency. But the contrasting short hemlines and skin-tight silhouettes show the newly acquired independence and daring new persona.
The pants come with skirt detail at the back and fitted skirt has side-pleated sash which combined both elements of the saints and sinners. The most eye-catching piece from the collection has to be the pentagram circle dress in navy and black. It’s very dark yet super sexy depending on how it is being carried. The draped jackets are definitely on trend and have to be the most versatile pieces from the collection.
Perfect for forever young and downright restless women out there, “young&restless”offers different take on conventional dressing. If you like your clothing to tell stories (in this case, a very dark tragic tale), “young&restless” gives you just that. Who needs storybooks when you have clothing that tells endless stories?
