So we have done the cardigan to death and we have rocked the military jacket under the blazing hot sun of our tropical concrete jungle too. Although from the look of things both will linger around for quite a while, there is this one men’s fashion item from the past that has made a comeback in a big way. Emmagem has written (read:predicted) about the comeback in our article last year because we are always ahead of time (ahem). But it was not until recently that we could really see this one item on the back of some of the most stylish celebs and stylish men around in the city.
Let us all welcome back the denim jacket.

Denim jacket has always been in fashion but last the time that it really made an impact was around the time we celebrated the arrival of the new millennium. But back then it was all about the shiny ‘engineered jeans-type’ and mostly tailored from untreated denim. It was great for that particular time but denim jacket for now is all about fit and how well-worn they look.
3 important things to know about the new denim jacket:
1. The cut is very important. Unlike the old boxy version, the new denim jacket should be a little snug and cut a bit higher above the waist. The sleeves shouldn’t be too long or else you have to consider folding or zhoosh-ing up the sleeves up to your elbow.

2. What is worn underneath is also important. The safest bet is a plain t-shirt in soft fabric or simple concert tee. But if you want to bring the cool factor to the next level, checkered shirt in red, green or blue will definitely make you the coolest guy in the room.
3. The new denim jacket also should look as if you have owned it for years. The fading of colors should look natural and not the kind that looks as if you have brushed bleachers all over it.
Go ahead and grab a denim jacket because unlike those crazy leather biker jackets, this one makes more sense for our weather. It’s not heavy or pricey. The best part is you can wear it all year round! All you have to do is to find one that fits you perfectly.
