E very halloween, there will be a about a million bad decisions walking around. People whose costumes make no sense, people who look ridiculous beyond reason and, above all, people who look, well, ugly! And so, I have decided to bring you ladies a list of Do’s and Don’ts. That way, you could dress up for halloween and still look every bit the beautiful party girl you usually are!
Do’s
1. Add a little twist to your outfit
The annoying thing about halloween is that it’s almost impossible to find your friends because so many people look the same! So why not add a little twist to your costume to stand out from the crowd? Planning to dress as a nurse? Why not a vampire nurse? Going as a cheerleader? Why not a zombie cheerleader? With just some fangs, fake blood and artistically applied makeup, you are bound to stand out from the crowd.
2. Pay attention to accessories
A halloween party is still a party, so you’re bound to need a pair of heels and a clutch to store all your essentials. Make sure your accessories match and don’t clash with your costume! If you can’t coordinate your accessories with your outfit, the safest would be to stick to simple black pumps and a minimalistic black clutch.
3. Spend some time on your makeup
Apart from wearing a costume, the best part about halloween is the makeup. This is the perfect time to go overboard with bright, outstanding makeup. Be as creative as you want because this is the night when even stage makeup is acceptable in public!
Don’ts
1. Wear lingerie as your costume
A common saying is that halloween is just an excuse for girls to be slutty. You see girls everywhere wearing lingerie and a pair of bunny ears and calling themselves rabbits. Or devils, or nurses, or cats, or mice…. basically anything with ears or a headgear. Please ladies, just because it’s halloween doesn’t mean that people are going to lay aside their judgments!
2. Dress up as yourself
This really irritates me and I’m sure I’m not the only one. If you’re not wearing a costume, say you’re not wearing a costume! Another group of irritating people are those who wear, say, a plain black body con dress and claim that they’re dressed as Megan Fox. It’s not funny. Stop being stupid.
3. Wear something that doesn’t fit
So many people just grab something off the shelf at a costume rental shop. They’re either so big the shoulder line drops or so tight their muffin top shows. So unattractive! Pick your halloween costumes the way you would pick any other item of clothing- if it doesn’t fit, put it back.
