H air treatments will never be the same! Caviar perles on the hair…talk about the ultimate luxury. So, when Chronologiste invited the press to selected hair salons/spas to try out the treatment, I jumped at the chance. Although always one for the easiest, fastest way for the hair and a strong advocate for DIY hair treatments- it is a rarity for me to sit through any hair treatments longer than 2 hours. Caviar on my hair was way too exotic to refuse and especially when it is a product that Kérastase Paris, the brand owner dare claim as their most incredible and technologically advanced formula to date. This fine product is meant to counteract the damaging effects of hair over time using the extraordinary qualities of caviar for an even more extraordinary hair treatment. But luckily they did not really mean to pour countless of caviar on my hair but rather about formulating a technology similar to the preserving properties in caviar, which in case you really don’t know, are eggs from the sturgeon fish, no not named Wanda.

The Kérastase formula, is  preserved in pearls of caviar that contains gluco lipid (for dry damaged hair), Vitamin A and E to protect colour  and increase luminance, trio of ceramides to strengthen weak and fine hair, cationic by products for softer and straighter hair with some silicone glided in for luscious smoother even thicker manes. The scalp is not forgotten in this treatment as the innovative treatment  also contains bisabolol, a molecule that calms and revives scalp. All the pearls interestingly enough are preserved in a seawater gel that is rich in minerals and trace elements.    The treatment is simple enough, it is a combination of of the mimetic caviar perles crushed and blended into ultra rich and nourishing mask which they will then massage into the hair. They have a principle to “mix upon use” only to ensure the integrity of the precious elements are released only upon application.

Chronologiste hair treatments are only conducted in salons that qualifies L’oreal’s strict standards; all selected salons must be of a certain size and must have a hair spa that allows for the full treatment.  Miko  Studio at Setapak, was my venue and after some  minor communication mishap, I was promptly shown into the hair spa.  The young Mr Sucas, a trained L’oreal hair treatment cum stylist was the man of the day.

After the initial awkwardness, him, not a man/boy of too many words, when I found out he was just about 18 years old, I must admit I was more than a little curious about his credentials. But I quickly put my worries to rest; a recent graduate from the Miko Hair School and currently working at the salon as junior stylist which he explained painfully, that means he is good enough for them to have retained him. In my conversations with him, I found out that he is doing something that he is really passionate about.  So,to while away time,  I decided to probe just a little. Like how do you know you are interested in hair, since when … The kid, it seems it grew up with the hair salon downstairs as his playground. So, does he knows  and understand hair? Apparently he breathes and sleeps hair;  he is constantly analyzing about hair and hair dos from young.

My verdict, he has got a good pair of hands. Strong and deft, they relentlessly applied the caviar concoction and massaged in thoroughly. The application of the treatment concoction itself took almost an hour and half. Followed by a steam that lasted another 30 minutes.  All Chronologiste hair treatments ends with an equally lengthy and did I say strong, well let me say it again, strong shoulder  massage which was one of the best I have ever experienced. Totally took away my shoulder pain and aches and I do not say this easily. So hats off to Mr Sucas, for his patience and dedication to ensure a really great hair treatment.

The end result:

Soft, great smelling hair. They do say that caviar is an aphrodisiac- was it my imagination or did I just  feel  a little  “sexy” after that treatment. My  hair had  a shine and a bounce that was quite a head turner I must say, especially after they gave it a blow dry and curls. At RM488 per treatment, I must say it was a pearl of a caviar treatment!
