I ‘m really not a fan of horror movies. The suspense, the sudden horror music and creepy noises, the moments when sudden loud horror music blasts through the speakers giving you such a shock that you feel your heart has stopped beating…yeap, definitely not a fan. But when you’re with a group of fans and get outvoted about what to watch, whatcha gonna do about it right?

Devil is the latest horror/suspense movie to hit the cinemas this last week. Devil is about a group of people from different backgrounds who happen to be trapped in an elevator together. What they don’t realize however, is that one of them is the devil. When the elevator gets jammed for no apparent reason, and the people start getting killed off one by one, they are in a race against time to save themselves and get out of the elevator alive.

OK, initially I had my doubts about this movie because M. Night Shyamalan was involved in making this movie. After his string of movie flops, Avatar being the most recent, I had my doubts that this movie would be any good. But surprisingly it was actually not that bad. And it wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be either, and the murder scenes were not as gory as I thought they were going to be.

There is nothing that special about the movie, but it just interesting enough to keep you guessing who might turn out to be the Devil in the movie. And there is a pretty good moral ending to the story too, if you pay enough attention to it and read between the lines, which is again unexpected because I thought it was going to be nothing but horror and senseless killing. I guess there is still hope that not everything Shyamalan is involved in is certain to be a flop.

I would give this a three star rating.
