“My soul travels on the smell of perfume like the souls of other men on music.”. Indeed, perfume is intangible yet has the powerful ability to uplift one’s spirit like how beautiful music would. And now given the gift to share the experience of Acqua di Gioia (water of Joy in Italian).

neo8The launch event was  done stylishly at Neo Restaurant, with Mr Desmond Teh, ending the new PR manager annointing Rock of Joys with the perfume  essence. The rocks each had a special message written by members of the press and later exchanged amongst them.

Treated to an exotic looking and sumptuous Thai fusion lunch with a  fantastic table setting that represented  the essence of the perfume.

The new  Acqua di Gioia is a fresh , refreshing scent, which like it’s sister perfume , Acqua di Gio, reminds one of water  light, refreshing and distinct. It has all the similarity but Gioia takes on a more adventurous and exotic twist. Rather than a  straight oceanic feel; it is more combination of summer forest rainfalls, tall waterfalls in lush jungles and tropical humidity. It is a combination of salty and sweet with some salty in betweens.  With ingredients like  primo fiore lemon, cinnamon, brown sugar, water jasmine and crushed  mint leaves, it is a scent that is quite unique. Which such a combination of ingredients,  one can’t quite put a finger on the scent.  Not your  usual sweet scent with flowers and more,  it takes  a bit to get use to.  It has depth layer after layer of different scent,  it makes you keep wanting to sniff  it just so that you get o the bottom scent which you knwo is tehre but what mysteriously eludes actual description.

But like all characters of depth , you realise it is the heady combination of all rather than the individual scent that makes this perfume special. Like falling in love after the initial hesistation and trying to guess each layer- when you finally fall for the person, it is in totallity and headlong all the way.  Mr Armani has spared no expense in creating this special perfume usimng primo fiore lemon  a premium and very expensive lemon as the key ingredient in creating this scent, almost more than 15 years after the launch of the Gio de Armani in time to celebrate his autumn winter 2010 collection.

Available in Girogio Armani perfume counters in August 2010.
