Good news! We can all now have bigger looking eyes. Kate Cosmetics launched their 3 new products last Tuesday. It was held in the heart of K.L. at Avenue K. The event begun with 3 makeup artist giving a free makeover for the early birds. I, myself had a free makeover. The products used are all from Kate’s cosmetics and also their newly launched items. In case you are wondering, Kate cosmetics are from Kanebo Cosmetics Inc.
In this Autumn/Winter 2008 collection, Kate takes it to an extreme, be it the day time natural effect or the dramatic smoky eyes night effect can be easily achieved. Kate’s (with the tag line, No More Rules) main aim is to emphasize on the eyes, giving the eyes the smoky dramatic effect. Hence, playing down on the other features of the face.
This newly launch makeup was designed for Asian girls (as you know how some of us have small eyes). By emphasizing the eyes by giving a much darker shade around it and makes the eyes look much bigger. Instead of going for surgery, this is another option to have bigger eyes (lols).
By 2ish, Mr Sam Kian Ping, the Director of Cosmetics Resources Sdn Bhd, ushered us to the other side of the room. The launch begins with Mr Julian, hosting the event, explaining what the launch is all about, giving a brief introduction on the 3 newly launch products.
Kate’s new products are:
Deep Eyes T, a fragrance free palette of eye shadow that could easily create dimensional smoky eyes with delicate luster. It comes in 5 different types of color. It is selling for only RM 48.
Powder Gel Liner N, also fragrance free with newly improved formula, is a quick-dry powder gel eyeliner that allows us to easily and smoothly draw beautifully blended lines. This gel comes in 5 colors as well, going for RM 45 per color!
Wax Mascara, with lash-friendly ingredients, olive oil and panthenol, lengthens eyelashes with its wax effect and curls them upward and creates beautiful curves. Only in black, RM 49.
Later, a specially invited Japanese makeup artist, Mr Hirai Mikiya who has been with KATE for 17 years ,demonstrated on two models, using the 3 items to create a daytime effect and a more dramatic effect for the night time. He explained when and how to use the products to create the looks. I tried to achieve the same look at home, it is really simple, but after a few more practices, I’d think it’ll be perfect! Other media, such as the TV3 and 8TV crew were there to cover the launch as well.
We interviewed Mr Hirai for a short moment before he was whisked away. When asked about the wax mascara, Mr Hirai stated that the mascara wand is so thin, that it very easy best to coat the bottom lash of the eyes. Besides, by using this wax mascara, eyelashes look more curly because the wax curls them upwards naturally. No more painful eyelash curlers. He mentioned that the color that suits Asian girls best is the color purple. Mr Hirai added that by lining the eyes with a dark color, black especially, will create a much more dramatic effect with the contrast of our white eyeballs. This will make the eyes look naturally bigger. And well, the secret to achieving the perfect smoky eye look is by lining the bottom line of the eyes as well.
