Naomi Campbell swears by them, Beyonce makes men go ga-ga with pizzazz…no it’s not the loony bin but loopy earrings that makes this super model and pop idol some of the sexiest and well dressed ladies of this century.

Women have been adorning themselves with earrings in many cultures since ancient times and even the men wear earrings (now and then) as a fashion and identity statement. I personally feel that wearing earrings allows one to dress up ones face. It is incredible how the right pair of earrings can brighten up your face and make one look fashionable even if only donning on a simple tee with jeans with minimal make-up.

Like Naomi, Jennifer and Beyonce and many others, I am very much into loops. Loops are easy to match, there are all kinds of sizes to match different outfits. In fact a medium size loop of about 3cm can be worn for most occasion, outfit and face shape. Unlike dangling and chandelier earrings,which can get too dressy for day wear and won’t fit a formal office occasion, loops will definitely give an edge to a suit without being frivolous and yet give a timeless feel. It also dresses up a multitude of sins, for if you have uneven lobes like I do, dangles have a way of appearing lopsided, but loops somehow hides this flaw of mine and gives my face some form of symmetry, not perfect like Ashwarya Rai’s face, but good enough for me.

These days, sizes of loops have become greatly exaggerated, fashionistas have been seen to spot on loops the half the length of their faces, but if you can carry it and it is the right occasion, I say why not. Also, do not restrict oneself to simple plain round loops, there are a variation of loops that one can experiment with. Go for different geometric shapes, size does matter and make a big difference and do look for details but bear in mind a simple loop doesn’t mean a simple mind.
